Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice (#4386)

This course is for people who want to provide a range of primary health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, including specific health care programs, advice and assistance with medication.

These workers can be expected to flexibly assume a variety of job roles and undertake a broad range of tasks. This course is delivered in a block release format to allow access for students from across the Kimberley region to attend.

Certificate IV consists of 14 Core units and 7 Elective units and the requirement to complete 500 Clinical Hours

HLTAHW019 Deliver primary health care programs for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities
BSBWOR404 Develop work priorities
CHCCCS004 Assess co-existing needs
HLTPOP009 Provide information and support on environmental health issues
HLTOHC001 Recognise and respond to oral health issues
HLTAHW017 Assess and support clients social and emotional wellbeing
CHCAOD004 Assess needs of client with alcohol and other drug issues
HLTAHW021 Provide nutrition guidance for specific healthcare

Elective Units

HLTAHW005 Work in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care context
HLTAHW006 Facilitate and advocate for the rights and needs of clients and community members
CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
HLTAHW018 Plan, implement and monitor health care in a primary health care context
