Course Details

This course is a great way to set yourself up for a rewarding career! KAMS will be delivering this training package for the first time in 2026.

The course will be delivered over a period of 6 months, in 9 one-week training blocks at North Regional TAFE in Kununurra and will include up to 15 days of work experience placement.

There are 9 units of competency you will study within this qualification:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
  • HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
  • HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors
  • HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • HLTPOP031 Provide information and support on environmental health issues
  • HLTARES001 Gather information and report on community health

Entry Requirements

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services requires entrants to be 18 years of age and provide a certified copy or original of photo ID. Entrants must provide or be able to obtain:

National Police Clearance

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Work Placement

This qualification includes 110 hours of work placement, so that participants can gain experience in a clinical and non-clinical setting.

Non-concession Total - $531.36
Recognition of prior learning - $55.00 per unit

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as resource fees and other fees.

Where tuition fees are due, Certificates and Statement of Attainments will be withheld until payment for the enrolled training has been made in full.
