GP Registrar Program

The Kimberley GP Aboriginal Health Training Program is a joint initiative of KAMS, the Royal Australian College of General Practice and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.

GP Registrar Program

The General Practice (GP) Training Program aims to provide opportunities and experience in Aboriginal Health and remote areas to increase the medical workforce.

The Senior Medical Officer and Executive Assistant to Medical Director coordinate the recruitment, placement and employment of GP Registrars in KAMS remote clinics, Kimberley Renal Services and headspace.

GP registrars have been placed in our KAMS Remote Clinics, headspace Broome, Kimberley Renal Services and most member services across the Kimberley.

GP Registrars often move between the AMS’s to complete their training

GP Supervision is in place.

Public Health

KAMS delivers culturally informed public health programs focused on prevention, early intervention and community-led solutions.

Priority areas include sexual health, Tackling Indigenous Smoking, hearing health, rheumatic heart disease, men’s health, family and early childhood support, and chronic disease prevention initiatives such as the Kimberley Foot Initiative.

Our work is grounded in the ACCHS Model of Care, recognising the social, cultural and environmental determinants of health.
