Zaccariah (Zac) Cox

Integrated Support Services

Zac is approaching ten years of service with Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS), during which time he has progressed through a range of roles that reflect both professional growth and a deep commitment to the organisation and the communities it serves.

He commenced his career at KAMS as a Hepatitis B Education Officer, before transitioning into Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), where he spent several years delivering mental health education and awareness, and providing direct support to individuals, families, and communities across the Kimberley. He also had the opportunity to work within the KAMS Research Team, contributing to several large-scale and impactful projects. Subsequently, Zac acted in, and was later appointed to, the role of Senior SEWB Manager, a position he held for approximately two years. In this role, he provided strategic and operational leadership across SEWB programs, workforce, and partnerships. More recently, he was successful in being appointed to a newly established Executive position with responsibility for Integration. As the inaugural appointee, he is playing a pivotal role in leading integration across service streams and laying the strategic foundations required in this area.

Zac reflects that the Kimberley is one of the last untouched frontiers in the world with a rich, yet painful, cultural history that continues to thrive against the odds in these modern times. The resilience of Kimberley people, lands and sea are proof that we have the wisdom, courage, knowledge and power to be the drivers of change to ensure a better future for ourselves and all Australians. As such, Zac is recognised as a strong advocate for improving outcomes stemming from systemic equity in the health system that continue to impact the ability of Aboriginal people to achieve and maintain positive health outcomes.
