
Raymond (Ray) Christophers is a respected Aboriginal community leader based in Broome in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and currently serves as Chairperson of Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS). A proud Bardi man, Ray brings strong cultural authority, extensive governance experience and a deep understanding of community priorities to his leadership role.
Ray is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services (NEHS) and holds a number of senior governance positions across the Aboriginal Community Controlled sector. In addition to chairing KAMS, he also chairs Kimberley Renal Services (KRS) and serves as a Director of the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) and Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation (NAC). Through these roles, Ray has contributed to regional, state and national decision-making across health, environmental health, workforce development and procurement.
As Chairperson, Ray provides strong strategic leadership, governance oversight and accountability, ensuring community interests remain central to organisational direction. He is a strong advocate for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services that are culturally safe, community-driven and responsive to local needs, and is deeply committed to self-determination and Aboriginal-led solutions that improve long-term health and wellbeing outcomes for Kimberley communities.
