Tim Garrett

Director

Tim has family links to the Kungarkany People from the Daly River region in the Northern Territory and brings more than 25 years’ experience in senior management and project coordination roles across Federal and State Government agencies. He also has over 10 years’ experience in leadership positions within Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) at a senior management level.

Tim has strong capability in executive leadership, corporate management, and human resources, with extensive experience leading human services programs focused on welfare and client advocacy. Throughout his career, he has delivered community social and economic development projects and brings broad knowledge across Indigenous social policy and service delivery, including housing and tenancy, education, health, legal services, and human rights.

More recently, Tim has worked extensively in land management and land use, with significant experience in Aboriginal Land Trust leases and operations, as well as knowledge of the Aboriginal Heritage Act and its application.

Tim has a strong focus on community development and has represented ACCOs on a range of committees, working collaboratively with government, community, and sector organisations. He brings extensive experience in corporate governance, Board education, and the development, implementation, and review of corporate and operational policy frameworks.

Through extensive travel and engagement across Western Australia and nationally, Tim has developed strong skills in Aboriginal cultural engagement, consultation, and negotiation. His experience working alongside Indigenous communities and community council structures has strengthened his understanding of regional community protocols and his ability to communicate and engage in culturally appropriate ways.

Tim is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen governance capability, build effective policy frameworks, and promote positive social and cultural outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
