Building Babies Brains – Broome

Building Babies Brains is a program that originated from a local Jabirr Jabirr traditional owner, she wanted her grandchildren and all the children in the Kimberley to develop better oral language through story telling at home.  The Building Babies Brains program has been developing and evolving since 2014, from local and industry feedback.

The program teaches families to enrich their child’s growth at home using evidence based research and interactive activities, all while valuing family culture and home language. The Building Brain Brains Program stretches over 3 modules, each of the modules focuses on key areas of a child’s early development such as Brain Development, Early Relationships and Oral Language.

Details as follows:

MODULE 1: Early Brain Development
This module looks at the development of brain wiring and the importance of health habits for mother and baby

MODULE 2: Early Attachment
This module explores secure connections with family members, emotional responses and regulation and building a childs executive function skills in readiness for school

MODULE 3: Oral Language Development
This module covers the importance of language in a childs development and in preparing for school.
