Culturally Diverse Mental Health – Perth

This one-day course is facilitated by CrossCultural Intellect, an established training and service development consultancy organisation. With a cumulative wealth of practical experience in working effectively alongside ethnoculturally diverse groups, CrossCultural Intellect specialises in developing strategies for successful transcultural engagement across a range of settings.  The course will also include the perspective of a person from an ethnoculturally diverse background with a lived experience of a mental health challenge.  Furthermore, this course will be interactive and include opportunities for experiential exercises.

For front line workers in the community mental health sectors. Community mental health services provide support to anyone living with mental health challenges, however, cultural responsiveness and cultural humility are essential elements in providing accessible and relevant services for people from ethnoculturally diverse backgrounds.

This course will support participants to:

  • * Learn about the concept and practice of cultural humility; the differences between cultural awareness and practical cultural responsiveness and; will explore ways to sensitively navigate cultural differences, values and norms in the mental health context.
